/ About the project
The Adbusters cover project provided a glimpse into the world of art directors and their ability to lead a photo shoot with limited resources while evoking profound emotions.
Creating the cover for the Adbusters Anxiety issue was a gratifying experience, especially during a time when the pandemic confined people indoors. To convey the collective unease, I employed a combination of hand-drawn illustrations and personal photographs taken within the confines of my own home. This approach allowed me to craft a visually compelling narrative that resonated with the anxieties felt by everyone.
This creative challenge opened my eyes to the beauty that can be found in the most ordinary of objects. I transformed everyday items into symbols of solitude and unease, each representing the facade of happiness often observed on social media platforms during times of global turmoil. One such symbol is a smiling face struggling to breathe, serving as a poignant reminder of the artificial happiness that pervades our virtual lives when the world is in distress.
Through this project, I discovered how our surroundings reflect our innermost emotions. It also underscored the ability of visual storytelling to convey complex feelings.
